Direct Billing Dentist in Ottawa:How Tooth & Co. Makes Dental Care More Accessible

Direct billing dentist in Ottawa at Tooth & Co., Centretown West, accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP).

Worrying about dental costs should never be the reason someone skips care. At Tooth & Co., we are proud to be a direct billing dentist in Ottawa, submitting claims to your insurance provider on your behalf so you walk out paying only what is not covered. We also accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), the federal government program designed to reduce financial barriers for Canadians without employer dental benefits. Whether you have private insurance, CDCP coverage, or both, our goal is simple: get you the care you need with as little out-of-pocket cost as possible. Located at the corner of Gladstone and Rochester in Centretown West, we built this clinic to be as accessible as it is welcoming.

Your Direct Billing Dentist in Ottawa: What to Expect at Checkout

Direct billing means our clinic sends your insurance claim directly to your provider after your appointment. Instead of paying the full fee upfront and waiting weeks for reimbursement, you pay only your portion at checkout. No forms to fill out. No phone calls chasing your insurer. We handle it.

We work with most major Canadian insurance carriers, and our team will review your coverage with you before treatment begins so you understand exactly what to expect at the end of your visit.

We Accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a federal program that helps make dental care more affordable for eligible Canadians who do not have private or employer dental insurance. If your adjusted household income is under $90,000 per year and you do not have coverage through work, school, or a pension, you may qualify.

A few things worth knowing about the CDCP:

  • Who is eligible? Currently, the plan covers seniors 65 and older, children under 18, and adults with a valid federal Disability Tax Credit certificate. Full expansion to all eligible Canadians is underway, with the next application window opening June 2, 2026.

  • Is it free? Not always. The CDCP is a subsidy, not a full coverage plan. Depending on your household income, you may still have co-payments. Households earning between $70,000 and $89,999 will pay a co-pay percentage; those under $70,000 generally have no co-pay.

  • How do I apply? Applications and renewals are managed through Canada.ca/dental. You must have your CDCP card and coverage start date confirmed before your appointment can be billed under the plan.

The Canadian Dental Association also has a clear breakdown of what services are covered and how co-payments are calculated, which is a great resource if you are trying to understand your specific entitlements.

Can You Combine CDCP with Other Coverage?

If you have both private insurance and CDCP, the two plans can coordinate benefits. In most cases, your private insurance is billed first, and the CDCP can cover some or all of the remaining balance. Our administrative team is experienced in coordinating these claims to help minimize what you owe.

What Services Are Covered?

Under both direct billing and the CDCP, a wide range of general dentistry is covered, including:

  • Dental exams and oral cancer screenings

  • Cleanings and biofilm therapy

  • White composite fillings

  • Crowns

  • Extractions and wisdom teeth

  • Root canal treatment

If you are curious about whether a specific treatment is covered under your plan before you book, simply contact us and we will walk you through it.
